ATLANTA -- One of three health care providers that insure Medicaid patients for Grady Memorial Hospital says it will terminate the hospital's contract Saturday.
Peach State Health Plan has opted to end its contract with the hospital after months of negotiations. Hospital officials say that could mean a disruption of care for more than 12,000 patients after Dec. 31.
Peach State Health Plan is hired by the state of Georgia to handle Medicaid claims with numerous health care providers, including a portion of Grady patients.
Grady officials confirm that Peach State Medicaid patients can still receive care until December 31st. After the 31st they will have to seek treatment from doctors at other healthcare facilities.
The hospital's emergency room will still be available to Peach State recipients that need emergency care.
