CHATSWORTH, Ga. -- Investigators are looking into how a 2-year-old girl shot herself in the abdomen Thursday morning in Chatsworth.
The father called 911 and accidentally gave dispatchers his old address at the southern end of Murray County.
Paramedics were able to find the correct location after the child's mother helped dispatchers with the proper address.
The bullet from a .25-caliber pistol went all the way through the little girl, but did not hit any of her vital organs. She is in the hospital, recovering from surgery.
The shooting may be ruled as accidental, but a complete investigation by the GBI will be completed first.
Her parents claim they left the gun on a nightstand and forgot about it.
