Preschool worker charged with molestation; lawsuit filed

Daycare sued over alleged child molestation

ALPHARETTA, Ga. - A lawsuit has been filed against Bright Horizons Deerfield Preschool in Alpharetta claiming it allowed a teacher to sexually abuse a 4-year-old child.

Bernard Osborne Benta was arrested by Milton Police and booked in the Fulton County Jail on February 19. He was charged with Child Molestation and Sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority.

The attorney for the parents of the child, Jeff Herman, said the child was molested during nap time in the preschool's restroom and the abuse only stopped after the mother came to the school early one day and found her son separated from the class with his pants down under his blanket during nap time.

Attorney Herman claims other parents had concerns and filed reports of Benta's inappropriate conduct to the director of the preschool. Herman said one parent accused Benta of making sexually inappropriate comments to her daughter, and another parent reported Benta was "creepy" and made them feel uncomfortable by the way he stared at the children.

Herman, along with the parents of the alleged victims are holding a press conference to announce the lawsuit in front of Bright Horizons at Deerfield located at 3105 Webb Rd. Wednesday afternoon.
