Random Act of Kindness: Operation Oreo

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- During the month of June, Alpharetta First United Methodist Church (AFUMC) is collecting Oreo cookies for Operation Oreo, their annual cookie drive which collects Oreos to send to troops overseas.

Senior Pastor Dr. Don Martin began Operation Oreo after an encounter with a soldier on an airplane in 2009. Dr. Martin asked the young soldier what he missed most about home while on tour, to which he quickly replied "Oreos, Double Stuf!"

Since then, the church has collected Oreos to send to soldiers. This year's goal is to collect over 2 tons of America's favorite cookie.

Our friends at Publix Super Market in Alpharetta stepped in to help the church in their mission to collect, and donated 15 cases of Oreos towards the drive for this patriotic Random Act of Kindness.

Visit AFUMC's Operation Oreo page to learn more about the cookie drive and how you can help.
