Atlanta police: Suspect in Dragon Con sexual battery released on bond

Sexual battery suspect released on bond

ATLANTA -- Atlanta police have confirmed that a man wanted for a sexual battery that occurred during the Dragon Con parade is out on bond after surrendering to authorities.

Officials said 45-year-old Lerisha Collins turned himself in Friday.

According to the victim, a man exposed his penis and "made physical contact with the outside of her clothing" while she was standing on the sidewalk watching the Dragon Con Parade.  Police later identified that man as Collins.

The incident happened sometime between 10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Andrew Young International Boulevard and Peachtree Center Avenue.

Police said Collins frequents the Atlanta area, but he is not at the address listed on his driver's license and police have been unable to track him down.

Investigator Ralph Woolfolk with Atlanta Police Department's Special Victims Unit said witnesses helped them quickly identify their suspect.

"We do have some very good eyewitnesses and they were able to capture some photographs of the individual as well," he said. "They shared those with our officer and they were instrumental in streamlining our investigation."
