ATLANTA -- Police have identified the man who died of several gunshot wounds after being discovered in a home on fire. Willie Turner, 46, of Atlanta was rushed to the hospital after firefighters discovered him while responding to flames at a home on Jones Avenue in Northwest Atlanta.
Investigators say several people live in the home, but no one except the victim was inside at the time of the fire. Initially, firefighters tried to begin lifesaving measures when the pulled Turner from the house, but then saw that he was either stabbed or shot.
"We are treating this as a homicide. We need to talk to everyone who lives there," said Cpt. Paul Guerucci of the Atlanta Police Department.
At the same time, the fire department calls the fire "suspicious' and there is an investigation into its cause.
