Atlanta Pride festival and parade may have broken record

Gay Pride Parade and Festival may break attendance record

ATLANTA -- Cleanup is already underway after a very successful Pride Weekend in Midtown Atlanta.

The festivial celebrates the LGBTQ community in town and may have broken a record.

While the attendance numbers will come in later but just judging by the size of the crowd and the enthusiasm, officials believe this may be the largest pride weekend ever in Atlanta.

The event had a huge parade of 235 different organizations with 7,500 participants. The event was held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but the marquis event was the parade through Midtown.

Hundreds of thousands of people came to watch and cheer and to see everything that the parade and weekend had to offer.

Organizers said it was one of their most successful weekends to date. The Pride Weekend started in Atlanta in 1970.
