HALL COUNTY, Ga. -- A search is underway for occupants of a boat that overturned on Lake Lanier Friday.
Hall County Fire Services said its crews were dispatched to Cocktail Cove after the boat reportedly overturned around 4:30 p.m. Emergency personnel found a 38-foot tunnel hull offshore-style racing vessel partially submerged.
According to Georgia Department of Natural Resources Major Stephen Adams, the boat was in town for a poker run scheduled to be held at the lake this weekend.
Divers were deployed and are searching the area for up to four people who were believed to have been on the boat. Authorities would not release any details about who might be on the boat.
The search is scheduled to continued into the evening and overnight, authorities said.
Witnesses told officials that the boat encountered a wake and then turned over.
