Firefighters battle Brookhaven apartment fire

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Fire crews battled an aggressive fire at The Terraces at Brookhaven apartment complex Friday morning.

Crews responded to alarms from the eight-unit apartment complex, which are located on 3500 block of Buford Highway just after 11 a.m. Four to five people suffered minor injuries after jumping from the second floor of the complex to avoid the flames.

Maintenance workers at the apartment put up a ladder so residents could escape.

Fire officials said that every unit in the building was affected.

No details for how the fire started have been released.

The American Red Cross is assisting those affected by the fire.
