Car strikes school bus in DeKalb County

1 person critical after school bus crash; no kids hurt

DEKALB COUNTY, GA – A car struck a school bus loaded with about 60 students from Pleasantdale Elementary School in DeKalb County Tuesday afternoon.

According to DeKalb County Police, it happened near the intersection of Pleasantdale Road and Woodridge Way.

The car struck the bus near the center of the larger vehicle.

Images from 11Alive’s SkyTracker show the students off of the bus on the sidewalk nearby. None of the students have been reported injured. The driver of the car is reported in critical condition. 

According to Quinn Hudson with the DeKalb County Schools, about 25 students were taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston as a precautionary measure, based on parent requests. The remaining students are being picked up by parents or transported to their home apartment complex -- Forest Cove Apartments -- which is about a mile from the accident site.
