Aspiring model arrested in Dalton death

DALTON, Ga. -- A woman accused of murdering a convenience store clerk in Whitfield County has been arrested, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Monday that it had obtained an arrest warrant for 21-year-old Skyy Raven Marie Mims, an aspiring model and singer from Detroit who GBI officials said was on her way to Atlanta.

GBI spokesperson Sherry Lang said Mims is believed to be the woman who killed 36-year-old Dahyabhai Chaudhari, a clerk at Kanku's Express on Airport Road in Dalton, Sunday night. Robbery may have been a motive.

Customers and friends stopped by the convenience store on Tuesday to offer their condolences.

"It's truly sad that someone could do this," one customer said. "Especially in a community like this."

"This really hurt me," customer Mike Bishop said. "Because he was a nice man – every time I came up in there, he would say, 'Hey, Boss.'"

A customer found Chaudhari's bloody body behind the counter Sunday night. Investigators are not saying how he was killed, but it was apparently not from a gunshot, because there were customers in the store, and no one heard any shots, according to the store's owner.

While the manhunt is over, the questions remain – questions about why a life was taken and what comes next.

The store's owner says Mims only got away with a small amount of money and a few lottery tickets. Mims was taken into custody at a residence in Cartersville.
