Tellus Science Museum welcomes 1.5 millionth visitor

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- The Tellus Science Museum announced its 1.5 millionth visitor on Saturday - what a spokesperson for the group is calling a huge milestone.

Museum representatives greeted the guests, James Suttles and his family, around 12:30 p.m. along with a bag of goodies and a $100 Tellus gift card along with a signed copy of "The 50 Coolest Things at Tellus".

"We weren't expecting this," Suttles said. "Now that we have a membership we'll definitely have to come back really soon."

The family also received a one year membership to the museum and a certificate for a VIP lunch and tour with the museum's executive director.

"We had our second best year last year - only behind our opening year," executive director Jose Santamaria said. "And we are on track to serve even more guests this year."

The 120,000 square foot Smithsonian Affiliate is located in Cartersville. Visit the museum's website for more information.
