Grieving wife and child of Newton deputy met with love, support

Family, friends honor Newton Co. deputy

COVINGTON, Ga. -- Family is saying a tearful goodbye and a community is coming together after the death of a Newton County deputy following a single vehicle crash.

Newton County Sheriff Ezell Brown first confirmed the death of Deputy Justin White on Tuesday.

The Covington News reports that White was involved in a crash on Oct. 30 in the early morning hours while responding to an emergency call. He had been in intensive care since then but later succumbed to his injuries.

The 28-year-old deputy had been with the sheriff's office since 2012.

"During his tenure with the sheriff's office, he was a great asset and his presence will be sorely missed," Sheriff Brown said.

Now, as family and friends return from Deputy White's funeral, many are working to help ease the financial burden on his wife and daughter.

A GoFundMe account set up by family has already raised more than $7,000 for them. The sheriff's office has also announced that donations can be made to the family through any branch of Bank of North Georgia by depositing to the Deputy Justin White Memorial Fund.

Donations can also be mailed to:

Newton County Sheriff's Office
Attn: Deputy Justin White Memorial Fund
15151 Alcovy Road
Covington, GA 30014

Those sending checks or money orders are asked to write Justin White in the memo section.
