PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. -- Another brush fire has broken out in Georgia thanks to the state's lingering drought.
Paulding County Fire & Rescue and the Georgia Forestry Commission are currently working to contain a brush fire that's burned about 20 acres so far. Officials said winds are helping to spread heavy smoke across many parts of the county, including to Dallas Yorkville and Rockmart.
Crews are using tractors to reinforce fire breaks. As of 3:30 p.m., officials said they had the fire about 75 percent contained.
Paulding County fire officials said the area affected is largely rural and no homes or other structures are in any immediate danger. However, they said residents should expect smoke to linger throughout the night and possibly into tomorrow morning.
