Delta, Emory, AT&T among Atlanta's top employers

ATLANTA -- Atlanta Business Chronicle's July 11 edition features lists of Atlanta's Top 25 Employers and Atlanta's Top Technology Employers.

Delta Air Lines Inc. ranks No. 1 on the Top Employers list with more than 30,000 full-time employees in the metro Atlanta area. The major airline company, established in Atlanta in 1941, employs more than 80,000 employees companywide.

Emory University, Gwinnett County Public Schools, AT&T Inc. and Cobb County School District complete the top 5 spots for the second year in a row. The four employ more than 75,000 across the metro area and more than 300,000 companywide.

Northeast Georgia Health System Inc. (No. 19) saw the biggest percentage of employment on the list. The organization experienced an 8.96 percent increase in employment from 2012-2013 and employs more than 4,700 in the metro Atlanta area.

Atlanta's Top Technology Employers list is headed by AT&T, with more than 18,000 full-time metro-area employees. The company – also ranked No. 4 on the Top Employers list – also employs more than 21,000 full-time employees across the state.

Cox Enterprises Inc. and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. round out the top 3 spots on the Technology Employers list. Cox Enterprises reported more than 7,000 full-time employees in the metro area and $15.9 billion in 2013 companywide revenue. Lockheed Martin reported 6,100 Atlanta employees and $14.6 billion in 2013 companywide revenue.

Both lists were ranked by number of full-time metro Atlanta employees as of Dec. 1, 2013.
