ATLANTA -- The public celebration of life for Captain Herb Emory will be Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. The church is in East Cobb at 955 Johnson Ferry Road.
The family says they will hold a private funeral.
The well known WSB Radio and Channel 2 Action News reporter, passed away Saturday evening.
Emory was assisting with a car accident on South Burnt Hickory Road, when he became ill, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. He was taken to WellStar Douglas Hospital, where he died.
Since 1971, Emory had been one of the most popular voices for Atlanta traffic reports. He began working with WSB Radio and Channel 2 in 1991.
In 2008, he was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame and received the inaugural Excellence in Motorsports Journalism Award in 2012.
Captain Herb was 61 years old.
