Duluth woman charged with setting bed on fire

Eunok Yu has admitted setting a mattress on fire in an apartment complex.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. - A woman has been charged with setting a mattress on fire at a Duluth apartment complex that may have been part of a domestic dispute with her husband.

Gwinnett Fire officials said Eunok Yu, 38, admitted to setting the mattress on fire in a Bridgewater Apartment unit on Thursday morning.

Officials said an intoxicated Yu was found lying on Satellite Boulevard near the complex with soot on her clothing and hands.

Yu also has admitted setting the same bedding on fire about a month ago, though neither Gwinnett police or fire have any record of the incident.

Yu's husband was not at home at the time of Thursday's fire.

Yu has been charged with first-degree arson, and more charges may be filed in the future.

Thursday's fire was contained to one unit. Officials believe the unit's smoke alarms may have been disabled.
