EF1 tornado confirmed in Cobb County

NWS confirms EF1 tornado hit Cobb County

The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF1 tornado touched down in Cobb County Wednesday afternoon.

NWS teams are still out investigating other possible tornadoes, but completed their first survey in Cobb County. The tornado path was .75 miles long and 100 yards wide. Winds reached 100 mph.

The tornado touched down along Delta Court, crossed Six Flags Pkwy. and Mableton Pkwy. before hitting Discovery Blvd.

The path of that tornado stayed within Cobb County and ripped apart the corner of a warehouse, flipped a tractor trailer, snapped poles and uprooted or snapped several trees.

Surveillance cameras near the storm captured the high winds and the moment they knocked over a tree.

The 11Alive StormTrackers were online, on social media, and on air throughout the severe weather warning of the danger of tornados in that area. You can see their latest weather forecast here.

Three tornadoes were confirmed by radar on Wednesday, according to the NWS. Survey teams are on the ground today at all of those locations.
