ATLANTA, Ga. - Tommy Mikal Ford, who was best known for his role as “Tommy” on the hit TV sitcom "Martin" passed away in an Atlanta hospital, according to an official statement posted to Ford’s Instagram account. He was 52.
According to Ford's website, since his "Martin" days, he had been focusing on building a successful career behind the camera. Ford’s site states that he had directed and produced several webisodes, television dramas, and sitcom pilots, including two variety talk shows and a documentary he filmed in Atlanta.
Friends, fans and colleagues took to social media to remember Ford after learning the news. Among those posting messages included LL Cool J, Salt N' Pepa, Cedric the Entertainer and Bill Bellamy.
