Man arrested for murder after body found near pasture in Gwinnett

Arrest made in deadly Snellville shooting

SNELLVILLE, Ga – Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for the murder of 23-year-old Jabari Pettway from Duluth.

Pettway's body was found by a worker patrolling a pasture near the intersection of Lenora and Lenora Church roads around 8:40 a.m. on November 2nd. The worker found the body lying face up in a private driveway next to the pasture. Police said Pettway was shot multiple times.
On Friday, Pettway's stolen Dodge Avenger was recovered in Atlanta with heavy fire damage.   Melvin Kent Roberts Jr. from Lawrenceville was arrested and faces multiple charges including murder, aggravated assault, Terroristic Threats and Theft by Taking. He is currently at the Gwinnett County Jail with no bond.
