FORSYTH, Ga. -- A Georgia death row inmate scheduled to be executed next week has selected his final meal.
Steven Frederick Spears requested a last meal of a large meat pizza, according to a news release from the Georgia Department of Corrections.
Spears received the death sentence for the October 2001 murder of Sherri Holland after a March 2007 jury trial.
Spears would be the eighth person in Georgia this year to be executed, more than any other in the state since capital punishment was reinstated nationwide in 1976.
Most recently, Gregory Lawler was executed on Oct. 19 for killing an Atlanta police officer and seriously wounding his partner.
Spears is scheduled to be executed Nov. 16 at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Ga.
