Katt Williams' bond won't be revoked

Katt Williams remains free

HALL COUNTY, GA. -- - Katt Williams will remain out of jail -- for now at least.

The state withdrew a motion Wednesday to withdraw Williams' bond on charges related to the alleged beating of a bodyguard. The state also dismissed a pretrial warrant.

Williams was out on bail after an incident in February, when a bodyguard said the comedian and several of his associates held him against his will and assaulted him.

When two new cases appeared, the prosecution wanted to revoke Williams' bond and place him in jail.

Williams, as well as Lena Christina Smith and Tatiana Shaquasese Smith, were charged with: aggravated assault, false imprisonment, simple battery, felony possession of marijuana.

The comedian himself was charged with terroristic threats and possession of firearm during the commission of a felony. Smith was also charged with possession of Alprazolam and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

The prosecution and defense had witnesses scheduled to appear at Wednesday's hearing, but none of the state's witnesses showed up.

Wiliams' attorney, Drew Findling, said he wasn't surprised that the other two cases didn't affect his bond in the bodyguard case.

"He has been abiding by the terms and conditions of his bond," Findling said.

The two cases in question involve a viral video fight with a 17-year-old at a soccer game and another incident inside a seafood restaurant where Williams is accused of throwing a salt shaker at an employee.

Findling said the characteristics of the other cases were fishy from the beginning, saying about the soccer fight:

“It was really -- other than one kid following him and creating an incident -- it was really a problem-free environment,” he said.

Findling said one witness was a Gainesville police officer who was at the game the entire time.

And for the salt shaker case, he says more witnesses were ready to testify on Williams' behalf about what really took place that night.

Williams has had a number of other run-ins with the law in 2016. He was arrested for allegedly assaulting a pool store employee, accused of assaulting five women and stealing their cell phones, identification and bank cards.

With his bond intact, Williams is able to continue touring. He's scheduled for shows in Texas this weekend.
