Lockdown at schools in Atherton area of DeKalb Co. lifted

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Several schools in the Atherton area of DeKalb County were placed on lockdown for a brief time Wednesday afternoon due to a police situation in the area.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department says a stand-off developed as they were serving a warrant for felony probation violation in the 1600 block of Atherton Drive.

Quinn Hudson with the DeKalb County School District said students are being held at Snapfinger Elementary School, Camby Lane Elementary School and Columbia Middle School are being held until given clearance by police. They said parents are being notified.

No injuries were reported. No additional details were immediately available.
