Man killed, another injured in Monday night Marietta crash

MARIETTA, Ga – Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened late Monday night on Johnson Ferry Road.

According to police, two men were pushing a 2006 Dodge Magnum out of Johnson Ferry’s northbound lanes near the Hampton Farms Drive intersection when a Mazda struck them.

One of the men, Robert Matthews Jr., 45, of Phenix City, Ala., was pronounced dead on the scene. The second, Kevin Fullerton, 49, of Sandy Springs, was taken to a local hospital with serious injured.

A woman in the Dodge’s front seat, Gwendolyn Matthews, 43, also of Phenix City, was not injured, nor was the Mazda’s driver, identified as Bruce Meachem, 85, of Marietta.

Police expect to file charges in the case.
