It was a wet and messy scene in midtown today as thousands of concert goers evacuated Music Midtown.
Take a look at this video shot around 5 this evening. Massive crowds of wet concert goers who were forced to leave the concert for more than an hour.
Once the rain died down the show went on.
None of the acts were canceled, instead all of the bands were pushed back.
When the gates reopened just after 5:30 it was a race to the gates. Many concert goers were soaked to the bone.
Which is why you need an umbrella hat like Zane Hamstead. Hamstead said he bought the nifty device on the way in.
It was an ordeal for some.
"We ended up leaving out of a completely different exit. It was horrible," one concert-goer said. "I was soaking wet, but I had a good time doing it."
Around 4:30 p.m. the event organizers decided to evacuate Piedmont Park. While there were no severe weather threats in the immediate area, organizers said they did it out of an abundance of caution.
That sent thousands of concert goers into the rain which some enjoyed.
"No it’s fun," one said. "I’m already soaked so what’s a rain jacket gonna do?"
While most others hated it.
"It was honestly horrible; we had to go hide out in some art store, so it really wasn’t the best," another said. "I had to walk back-and-forth - it was brutal."
Despite their feelings on the rain, they were ecstatic to return to the concert to see the end of the show.
11Alive's Ryan Kruger also spoke with some people who live in the area and they're worried about what the park will look like after so many people - in so much rain.
According to the lineup, GROUPLOVE was slated to start playing at 4:45 p.m., followed by Kesha and The Lumineers around 6:30 p.m. Deadmau5 and The Killers were supposed to headline the final night of the music festival.
Other artists, including singer James Bay, took to social media over the weather.
An updated schedule was released after the reopening and officials assured the public that no acts had been canceled as a result of the storm.
