Suspect ID'd in Norcross security guard shooting

Security guard hospitalized after shooting

Police are looking for a suspect after a security guard was shot multiple times Thursday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m. police responded to the Norcross Extended Stay at 2250 Pelican Dr. and found the security guard, later identified as 46-year-old William Hudson, with multiple injuries. He was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in critical condition.

The SWAT team was called to the motel to search for the suspect but did not find him. Police have since reported that they are looking for a potential suspect, 32-year-old Xavier Geder, in the shooting.

There are two active warrants out for Geder including aggravated assault and aggravated battery. A possible motive for the act has not yet been released as the investigation and search continues.

11Alive's crew on the scene saw at least 18 evidence markers in the parking lot and breezeway leading into the motel.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers or the Gwinnett County Police Department's Homicide/Assault Unit at 770-513-5300.
