Police: Drunk I-75 wrong-way driver hit tractor trailer head-on

The Georgia Department of Transportation said a car driving the wrong way crashed into a semi truck on I-85 in Atlanta.

A spokesperson for Georgia State Patrol tells 11Alive News the car that smashed into a tractor-trailer on I-75 early Tuesday morning was driven by a drunk 24-year-old from Dunwoody.

Around 3:00 a.m., a 2013 Hyundai SGL was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-75/ I-85. Sixty-nine-year-old Ralph Moore was driving his tractor-trailer northbound when he saw the wrong-way driver and tried to avoid him.


He was unable to avoid a collision and the two vehicles hit head-on in the middle lane of the interstate.

Moore was injured and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the Hyundai, Jea Jung, was not injured but was also transported. He was charged with DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving while unlicensed and reckless driving.
