Police: Drunk mom at wedding loses car with child inside

Police: Mom crashed wedding after losing son

HALL COUNTY, Ga --- A Hall County woman was arrested on Sunday for public drunkenness and leaving her six-year-old son in a car.

Witnesses say Gwendolyn Claire Truby was drunk as she entered a wedding party, asking for drinks and telling them she had  flat tire.

Wedding guests told police she became distressed, telling them she couldn't find her car or her son. Truby called police for help as other guests also phoned in their concerns about the wedding crasher.

Security guards with Lake Lanier Islands and Sheriff’s Deputies located the vehicle on a dirt area leading down to the lake, about forty yards from the waterfront.

The keys were in the ignition and the vehicle was in neutral. A child was in the back seat safely sleeping and did not sustain any known injuries.

Hall County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Truby and released the child to his father. DFACS was also notified about the incident. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.
