Armed man in custody after 6-hour manhunt

ATHENS, Ga – After a day-long search, police have apprehended an armed man with a mental condition who fled his family's house Sunday morning after an argument with his father.

Athens-Clarke County police said that Benjamin Sittig, 29, was found around 3 pm and taken into custody without incident.

Sitting got into an argument with his father Sunday morning and left their home armed with a 9mm handgun. Sittig's father told police that his son has been diagnosed with a mental condition and has not been taking his medication for about three weeks.
