Man wearing 'Scream' mask robs several stores

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Police are looking for a man who committed at least a dozen robberies and attempted robberies in Clayton County.

The suspect hit several stores near Jonesboro, mostly in the Tara Boulevard area. Clayton County Police spokeswoman JaQuitta Williams said the man always wears a mask similar to the ones worn by the killers in the "Scream" movies.

Investigators believe the suspect is also the man who shot at a security guard while trying to rob an adult novelty store on Tara Boulevard in early July.

Surveillance cameras at some of the crime scenes captured images of the suspect, described as a black man who's about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds.

A witness to one robbery, at the Family Dollar at Tara Boulevard and Highway 138, filmed the suspect escaping in a burgundy or dark red Jeep Liberty or Patriot.

Anyone with information about the suspect can call investigators at 770-477-3650.
