Roker: Georgia may have learned from its mistakes

(WXIA) - NBC's Al Roker took Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal to taskfollowing late January's snow storm and gridlock that trapped commuters on highways around metro Atlanta for nearly 24 hours.

But after watching what happened in Georgia during last week's ice storm, Roker said that the leaders and citizens may have learned from earlier mistakes.

"It appears to me that lessons were learned and that people stayed off the roads," Roker said. "The city fathers and mothers listened and heeded and closed things down. I think everybody - citizens and government learned a big lesson from that first ice storm."

Roker's comments to 11Alive's Jaye Watson came behind the scenes at The Today Show on Monday morning in Sochi.
