Detective: Search for 'childfree' appears in Ross Harris' web history

Week two ends with focus on computer searches

The jury in the trial of a father accused in the hot car death of his son heard from two new witnesses Friday.

The witnesses described the demeanor of the child's mother, Leanna Taylor, on the day 22-month-old Cooper Harris died as well as the history on Ross Harris’ phone and computer.

Ross Harris is facing numerous charges, including malice murder and felony murder in the death of his son.  Prosecutors allege that the father intentionally left his son in a hot SUV in June 2014. Harris calls it a tragic accident.

Home Depot Corporate Security Officer Wesley Houston was the first to take the stand on Friday. He recalled how while Harris’ was leaving work that day, he mentioned that he was heading to the movies. Houston claims this was out of the ordinary since Harris had never shared his personal life with him prior to this day.

Houston also told the jury how Leanna Taylor was acting strangely that day. After finding out Cooper had never arrived at daycare, she was brought into a waiting area with Houston as they located her then husband. Houston says they began watching breaking news on a television in the waiting area about Cooper’s death.

“Her emotions changed drastically because when she first came in she had a whole lot of steam, and as time went on her emotions died out…she was just sitting there like nothing happened.” Houston stated.

The prosecution also brought Detective Ray Yeager, a former detective in high tech crime investigations in the Cobb County PD. While showing the jury the history in Harris’ computer, Yeager noted how the term “childfree” was manually searched in Reddit.

During cross-examinations, the defense believed Yeager omitted some key information from his investigation, causing the prosecution to object several times throughout cross-examinations.

The jury is still awaiting information about who Harris was on the phone with moments before his child was found dead in his car.
