State to call prostitute as witness in hot car death trial

Prostitute to testify at Ross Harris trial

BRUNSWICK, Ga.—The state intends to call a prostitute to the stand in the trial of the father accused of leaving his young son to die inside of a hot SUV.

Ross Harris is facing numerous charges, including malice murder and felony murder, in the death of his 22-month-old son, Cooper.  The boy was found dead inside of Harris’ SUV in June 2014. Harris maintains it was an accident.

Prosecutors plan to call a prostitute who allegedly slept with Harris weeks before his son’s death as a witness in the trial.

The defense is trying to limit the woman’s testimony, saying she was coerced into identifying Harris from a picture and could only be 90 percent sure he was her client.

“She was not able to give any sort of identifying information other than skin color and fat and dumpy,” defense attorney Maddox Kilgore said Thursday.

In previous hearings, prosecutors have stated that Harris was sending explicit messages to several women in the months before Cooper’s death.
