All clear given at Art Institute investigation in Sandy Springs

Sandy Springs police investigating after shots fired reports at Art Institute.

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Police have given the Art Institute of Atlanta campus the all clear after there were reports of shots being fired.

According to Sandy Springs police, a 911 call was received just before 10:30 a.m. from someone reporting a shooter in the building. The caller reported hearing multiple shots and a power outage.

Police responded and determined there was not a shooter in the building.

It's believed that the power failed, activating a fire alarm. The fire alarm caused heavy doors to close inside of a building. The rapid sounds of the doors closing might have sounded like gunfire, police said.

The scene was active for about and hour but police did not have any victims or reported injuries.

Several people in the building were sheltering in place during the lockdown.
