Service dogs graduate in unique ceremony

These dogs have been trained to be companions to the nation's veterans.

WASHINGTON, DC – It was just like any other graduation ceremony … except these graduates walked across state on four legs.

Two classes of service dogs were congratulated on their completion of the hero dogs program, a non-profit providing service dogs to veterans free of charge.

Through their training, the canines have become facility dogs, therapy dogs or skilled home companions.

The dogs will now join veterans and their families to provide support for the nation’s former service members.
