SMYRNA, Ga. -- The FBI confirmed on Saturday an arrest in multiple jewelry store robberies across at five or more states.
Abigail Lee Kemp, 24, was arrested without incident on Friday in Smyrna by FBI agents of the Atlanta division.
The agents were assisting the Jacksonville, Fla. division with the investigation which possibly included jewelry store robberies in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina.
The suspect is believed to be involved in robberies in Dawsonville and Woodstock as well.
Another person who was with Kemp at the time of her arrest is also in custody but the person's identity has not been released.
Details surrounding both arrests are also not being released at this time.
FBI officials said that within hours of issuing a press release during the week requesting help identifying the suspects, the Jacksonville division of the FBI began to receive credible leads from the public.
"We thank our partners in the media who provided invaluable assistance by publicizing our need for information from the public," said Michelle S. Klimt, Special Agent-in-Charge of the FBI Jacksonville Division. "We also thank the many callers who provided us with information to assist in the investigation. You are one of the most valuable resources law enforcement has in fighting crime and we appreciate your efforts."
The case will be handled by the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Florida.
