SpaceX Falcon 9 exploded on its launchpad this morning

CAPE CANAVERAL. -- The SpaceX Falcon 9 exploded before take off Thursday morning at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

Undergoing a standard test of the nine Merlin main engines, the rocket exploded, causing a shock wave in buildings several miles away. Witnesses even said they saw a pillar of smoke from Launch Complex 40.

Space X Falcon 9's main purpose was to launch the Amos-6 communications satellite for Spacecom, an Israeli company, at 3 AM. The satellite's condition is unknown at this time.
