ATLANTA (AP) -- Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty has told Republican governors meeting in Atlanta that the country needs to "Americanize" its energy supply.
Pawlenty, who calls himself a "Sam's Club Republican," is widely believed to be under consideration as a running mate for presumptive GOP presidential nominee John McCain.
Pawlenty said yesterday that the country must be looking at homegrown alternative fuels, cutting edge technology and even nuclear energy. He was speaking to a gathering of the Republican Governors Association in Atlanta.
Two other potential vice presidential choices -- Florida Governor Charlie Crist and South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford -- were also on hand.
Pawlenty ducked out of the event without talking to reporters.
