DECATUR, Ga. -- For the first time in 50 years, Madeline is back.

Her new book, "Madeline and the Cats of Rome" made its world premiere during the Decatur Book Festival on Saturday.

Tom Bell, the festival's program director, appeared on 11Alive News Saturday Today to talk about the premiere.

This year's children's parade on Saturday morning was all about Madeline, the fictional French schoolgirl created by Ludwig Bemelmans in 1939.

The Festival will run through Sunday on and around the Downtown Decatur Square.

"Madeline and the Cats of Rome" is written by Ludwig Bemelmans' grandson, John Bemelmans Marciano.
