McDonough Toddler Dies From Injuries

MCDONOUGH - A toddler found by emergency officials at a home on Cobblestone Drive in McDonough has died.

Emergency officials responded to the house on Friday around noon. They found a 2-year-old girl with severe trauma to the head. She was rushed by helicopter to Children's Health Care in Atlanta where she died Saturday afternoon. Police continue to investigate the cause and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday. They have not released the name of the toddler.

The home is believed to belong to Shamika Jones and her family which 11Alive News profiled after the family fell upon hard times. Neighbors said that the family kept to themselves though there were occasional signs of trouble and police cars had been spotted at the home before Friday.
