AUSTELL --- Tired after overnight bus rides but proud after taking part in history, members of the South Cobb High School Band returned home Wednesday morning.
The band was the Georgia representative in Tuesday's Inaugural parade in Washington, D.C., performing in front of hundreds of thousands of people along the parade route including President and Mrs. Obama.
A group of parents, school officials and other students cheered and hugged band members as they got off their buses.
Band Director Zach Cogdill gave members a pep talk at the school, saying they gave "the best performance in the parade under painful conditions."
The band was outside in the cold for 6 hours before their performance.
The band also received another reward---no classes on Wednesday.
Cogdill thanked the Atlanta community for coming up with the money to make the trip possible.
A number of organizations including radio station Q100 held fund raising efforts to raises the tens of thousands of dollars needed to send the Blue Eagle Marching Band to Washington.
