ATLANTA --- Traffic was blocked on I-285 northbound in West Atlanta Friday after a MARTA bus collided with a tractor trailer rig. The accident took place on the inner circle of the perimeter, north of I-20 near Donald Lee Holowell Parkway. For some time, the MARTA bus blocked all northbound lanes of I-285. A spokesman with the Georgia Department of Transportation says there were no passengers on the MARTA bus. The spokesman says no one was injured. By 1230 p.m., the accident had been moved off the interstate and traffic was moving again. The accident took place as a major rain system moved into the Metro Atlanta area, with projections as much as three inches of rain in some areas over the weekend.
