ATLANTA -- A compound the helps soldiers wounded in battle is now helping women erase their wrinkles.
The U.S. Department of Defense began using DermaLastyl three years ago to promote wound healing and tissue regeneration for soldiers injured in war.
Now doctors are using it as an anti-aging treatment.
Dr. Michael Nesnick of Woodstock talked about DermaLastyl on 11 Alive News Saturday Today. He brought in some before and after pictures.
"You'll notice an opening of the eye," he said. "The frown lines around the mouth disappear. The crease lines on the forehead disappear. You get the 'wow' factor."
He said DermaLastyl comes in a cream that costs $89 for a 60-day supply. There's also an eye serum that costs $49.
He said he also uses an in-office procedure that helps the product absorb into the skin.
"It can replace up to two years of lost elastin," he said.
He said it takes 30 to 60 days to see results.
