ATLANTA -- Odds are the dad in your life already has a digital camera. But, this Father's Day you may want to consider a cool new gadget for dad: the Eye-Fi memory card.
The Eye-Fi video card is a very cool gadget that works just like the memory card in your digital camera but it adds one very cool feature: the ability to upload pictures and video directly to your computer or your favorite photo-sharing website without the use of cables.
The Eye-Fi card makes use of your home wireless network, thousands of WayPort WiFi hotspots and open WiFi hotspots to send your pictures to the web.
You start by setting up your Eye-Fi card on your home computer. The process only takes a couple of minutes.
Then, replace your camera's memory card with the Eye-Fi card.
Then start snapping pictures!
I started by taking pictures in the newsroom at 11Alive. Moments later, the pictures were uploaded to my Picasa photo gallery online.
You can also send your pictures to dozens of other photo-sharing sites including Facebook.
You can also upload your videos from your camera right to YouTube using the Eye-Fi card.
Here's another awesome feature: geotagging.
The Eye-Fi card has the ability to add geographic information to your picture, so you can tell exactly where the photo was taken.
I took a tour of Atlanta landmarks to take some self portraits. The Eye-Fi card recognized the location for all but one of the pictures I took.
In Picasa, those pictures can be organized on a map.
Then, start sharing with your friends and family!
The price of the Eye-Fi card starts at $50 and goes all the way to $100 for all the bells and whistles.
