CARROLLTON, Ga. -- The search is over for a 40-year-old baby sitter on the run. Late Friday afternoon, Carollton police arrested the woman accused of feeding a 1-year-old child wine.

"I was scared -- out of my mind," said the baby's mother, Lashirey Bryant, who was still shocked as authorities tried to figure out how on earth her baby boy got drunk off of wine.

At the center of it all, the child's babysitter -- 40-year-old Tammy Denise Truitt.

The incident apparently happened at the child's home Tuesday while Bryant was away tending to a family emergency. The child was back at home Friday after nearly slipping into a coma.

Police said the infant's blood alcohol level was a .33 -- four times the legal limit of an adult. But just where did the alcohol come from?

Police said they found an empty bottle of wine. The child's mother, however, said it did not come from the house.

"At this point, we don't know -- we have been told several different stories," said Tony Johnson of the Carrollton Police Department.

What's more, there were three other children under Tammy Truitt's care at the time. Police are charging her with first degree cruelty to children and reckless conduct.

The child ended up being rushed to an area hospital when the grandmother found the baby in what she describes as a lifeless state. The discovery made when she'd arrived at the home to pick the children up.

Police are continuing their investigation.
