Atlanta-A flood watch is in effect for areas along I-20 and northward until this evening. More heavy rain will move through during the afternoon hours causing run-off into creeks and streams. Many creeks and streams are already near full. Run-off will add to the water level and could threaten flood prone areas.
This is not expected to be a widespread significant flooding event. There will be some creeks and streams and low lying areas that will have a hard time dealing with the rain water.
We expect rainfall amounts on average between 1.5 and 2 inches. There will be some spots that will pick up between 2 and 3 inches.
Be sure and check gutters and downspout to make sure they push the water away from your house to prevent basement flooding.
