DeKalb Police Looking For Sexual Predator

DEKALB COUNTY, GA - "It's very frightening to me because I actually walk these streets at night time to go to the store or to pick my kid up from school."

As she walked with her young son, Dray, on Friday, Lakiesha Smith was well aware that a sexual predator is on the loose in her neighborhood.

He's struck at least twice in the past couple of weeks along Hambrick Road near the intersection with Rockbridge Road.

One victim was in her mid-thirties, the other only sixteen.

One was attacked walking to a bus stop, the other when the man broke into her apartment.

Lakiesha Smith was alerted to the threat by a letter from her apartment complex.

"My apartment told me that he was armed and that he randomly acts at night," she told 11 Alive News.

So far, Dekalb County Police have only a vague description of a dark complected man about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing between 175 and 180 pounds.

"There is no composite sketch," says Dekalb County Police spokesperson Mekka Parish, "because there is no distinctive description of the suspect...provided by these victims."

Parish says detectives have been canvassing the neighborhood looking for clues and other possible victims, while warning residents to be cautious.

She asks anyone with any information on the case, no matter how small, to please call the police department's tip line at 770-724-7499.
