Caleb and Ben at the Georgia Aquarium
The Georgia Aquarium can be a pricy outing: Adult General Admission Tickets are $26 and kids are $19.50.
A current promotion can cut that price by more than 75 percent for families willing to visit Monday through Friday. It's called the Me and Mommy promotion and the aquarium has been circulating it exclusively on Twitter and Facebook as well as various blogs. For $25 one parent and four children age five and under can visit the aquarium. The special deal also includes parking.
"Me and Mommy is by far the best deal out there right now," said Aquarium spokesman Scott Higley. Higley said the children do not have to be siblings and the Me and Mommy special includes Labor Day.
The promotion is not listed under the ticket page of the Gaaquarium.org but visitors can order tickets via www.gaaquarium.org/acb/stores
"It's kind of a reward for the people who follow us on Facebook and Twitter," said Higley. The Me and Mommy special lasts through November 12. Highley urged potential aquarium visitors to follow the aquarium on Twitter and to register on the Facebook page to get inside information on special deals.
The Aquarium has several ways to get free admission in the upcoming months as well.
New this year are Pirate Days from September 24 though 26. "Kids who come dressed as a pirate get in free with a paying adult," said Higley. That deal is available for kids age 12 and under.
Halloween weekend parents who pay their own admission can bring up to two children for free as long as the kids are in costume.
You can also visit the aquarium free on your birthday.
Volunteering is also a way to get discounted or free admission. Those who sign up for the Aquarium's volunteer program pay a one time fee of $60 and receive a t-shirt, training class and a one year membership. As they accrue volunteer hours, volunteers receive free tickets and memberships for friends and family.
