Roses are one of the most popular Valentine flowers but having an arrangement delivered can cost around $70 or more.

To lower costs, consider delivering the flowers yourself.  Whole Foods Market has a Valentine's special on roses: two dozen for $19.99. Red roses are included.

At the Atlanta State Farmer's Market in Forest Park, National Floral Distributors is offering a great deal as well: two dozen roses for $14.99, though red roses are not included.  "We have beautiful roses. We're a direct importer and we have all the pastels: peaches, pinks, yellows lavenders," said owner Herbert Grunberg. He said 2 dozen red roses are $29.99, $39.99 and $49.99 depending on the length of the stem and size of the roses.

National Floral Distributors is located at the Atlanta State Farmer's Market,  16 Forest Pkwy # 33, Forest Park, GA 30297-2089 (404) 363-1698.  It will be open from 5am to 9pm February 11th through the 14th. Grunberg said he expects to be very busy.

Another way to save money is to ask your florist if you can provide your own vase. Whole Foods on West Paces Ferry in Buckhead will arrange flowers for customers to who bring their own vase, which can save around $8.00 per arrangement.

Potted orchids are another option for Valentine's day and usually last much longer than a bouquet of flowers. Home improvement stores like Lowe's and Home Depot usually have them for around $20.00

If you're having flowers delivered, register your email address beforehand at 1-800 Flowers and Pro Flowers.  That way you'll be notified of specials and discounts they are offering.
