MARIETTA, Ga. -- A Marietta softball coach is accused of sexually assaulting one of his players for more than two years.
Isuru Pasan Perera was taken into custody Sunday.
Marietta Police spokesman David Baldwin said Perera was a coach and trainer at the Champion Softball Complex. The young victim, who played softball there, told investigators that Perera began molesting her in June of 2010.
Perera "used his position to coerce and intimidate the victim to commit multiple sexual acts against her," Baldwin said in a statement.
Baldwin added that all of the assaults happened in Perera's office at the softball complex.
Perera is being held without bond in the Cobb County Jail on a number of charges, including cruelty to children, aggravated sodomy, sexual battery, aggravated sexual battery, computer pornography and distributing obscene material.
Marietta Police are now concerned that Perera may have more victims. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 770-794-2366.
